5 Cluster formation in complex multi - scale systems
نویسنده
چکیده
Based on the ordering and competition of length scales in complex multi-scale systems, it is shown how clustering of active quantities into concentrated sets, like bubbles in a Swiss cheese, is a generic property that dominates the intermittent structure. The halo-like surfaces of these clusters have scaling exponents lower than that of their kernels, which can be as high as the domain dimension. Examples, among others, are spots in fluid turbulence and droplets in spin-glasses. (pnas2a.tex 04/01/05) PACS Numbers: 89.75.Da, 89.75.Fb, 47.27.Gs

Fault Detection and Isolation of Multi-Agent Systems via Complex Laplacian
This paper studies the problem of fault detection and isolation (FDI) for multi-agent systems (MAS) via complex Laplacian subject to actuator faults. A planar formation of point agents in the plane using simple and linear interaction rules related to complex Laplacian is achieved. The communication network is a directed, and yet connected graph with a fixed topology. The loss of symmetry in the...

Based on the competition between members of a hierarchy of length scales in complex multi-scale systems, it is shown how clustering of active quantities into concentrated sets, like bubbles in a Swiss cheese, is a generic property that dominates the intermittent structure. متن کاملCooperativity in biological systems
Living organisms can sense and respond to external and internal stimuli. Response isdemonstrated in many forms including modulation of gene expression profiles, motility, secretion, cell death, etc. Nevertheless, all forms share a basic property: they depend on sensingsmall changes in the concentration of an effector molecule or subtle conformational changes ina protein and invoking the appropri...
متن کاملAn approach to time- and space-differentiated pattern formation in multi-robot systems
We consider the problem of non-trivial pattern formation in decentralised multi-robot systems, and, in particular, how to achieve timeand space-varying behaviour. To tackle the problem, we explore the idea of evolving the fine-level regulation of an underlying self-organising controller. Results from simulation show the promise of the approach: we demonstrate a robot cluster that can stably mai...
متن کاملDistributed Fuzzy Adaptive Sliding Mode Formation for Nonlinear Multi-quadrotor Systems
This paper suggests a decentralized adaptive sliding mode formation procedure for affine nonlinear multi-quadrotor under a fixed directed topology wherever the followers are conquered by dynamical uncertainties. Compared with the previous studies which primarily concentrated on linear single-input single-output (SISO) agents or nonlinear agents with constant control gain, the proposed method is...
